We provide services covering all aspects of funerals.

Our Basic Service

When someone dies, our first duty is to transport the deceased from the house, hospital or nursing home into our care at our premises.
We do this when you have given us the provision to do so and all other criteria are met (please take a look at the When Someone Dies page for full details).
The deceased will then rest in our care until two Doctors have visited after which we will prepare them for their family to visit in our chapel. The preparation will include hygienic treatment for presentation and sanitation purposes unless the family wish otherwise.

The choice of clothing is decided by yourself or according to wishes stated in a Will or last wishes agreement, alternatively we often supply a traditional attire referred to as a 'gown' if required. Once we have arranged this, the deceased will be carefully placed into a coffin of choice and be taken to our chapel of rest which is within our premises.
Now prepared, the deceased will remain with us until the completion of arrangements on the day of the funeral, it is at this point that you may wish to come in and visit the deceased and pay your last respects. It is common for friends and family to place small items of significance, for example letters, photographs and tributes within the coffin at this time.
If the family wish to have their loved one at home with them until the day of the funeral, this is easily accommodated if the circumstances allow.
When the date of the cremation or burial arrives, the deceased will then be transported via hearse to the place of choice, and carried by four or more pall bearers.

Sometimes family members ask if they are able to assist with pall bearing, this is not a problem and we will talk to them and guide them through the procedure, however for health and safety reasons we still have to keep our pall bearers on 'stand by'. Sometimes the idea of wanting to help carry the coffin may seem the correct decision for you but on the day you may feel different.

The death must be registered within 5 days but the funeral needn't take place straight away.
Sometimes families like to leave the funeral for a couple of weeks allowing them time to contact family and friends and plan everything down to the smallest detail while others like to arrange the funeral as soon as possible. Everyone grieves in different ways and the time from death until the funeral often reflects their personal grieving process.
We are prepared to fulfil any requests that may be made to attribute within this significant time.
